7 BIG Reasons to Shop Sustainable Fashion on Project Cece
Does this sound cheeky given that Project Cece is… well, us? Maybe.
But since we’re a small team with BIG goals, we really wanted to share how shopping for ethical clothes on this platform can benefit you, hundreds of sustainable brands, and beyond.
And no, we’re not exaggerating!
So, here are 7 reasons to look for clothes right here on Project Cece.
1. You’re supporting ethical brands (which really, really need it!)
Project Cece isn’t a fashion brand. We don’t make our clothes (except when trying to upcycle or breathe some life into our existing ones at home, but that’s a different story).
We’re a search engine for ethical fashion, bringing hundreds of sustainable clothing brands in one place. Our goal is to make it super easy for you to find clothes that match both your style and your values. But.. this is also a way to support these impact-driven brands.
You see, it's quite HARD for ethical fashion brands to be profitable because:
- They tend to be small and not very well-known
- Unlike fast fashion companies using sweatshops, they pay their workers fair wages
- They usually choose eco-friendly fabrics and make their entire production and supply chain as environmentally friendly as possible
- They often invest in (costly) certificates to prove that
- They reduce waste by focusing on small-scale production instead of over-producing clothes like fast fashion brands
- Their items need to be more expensive as a result (but they’re also high quality and will last you for YEARS!)
So, because of all that, ethical brands have much lower margins, can’t compete with big fast fashion companies, and don’t have the budget to reach enough eco-conscious consumers like you. The result? More and more of them are closing down!
But at Project Cece, we make it easier for them to reach you.
So, don’t treat these resourceful little brands like that cute cafe in town (you know, the one everyone got upset about when it closed down… even though they always used to walk past it to head to Starbucks).
Support them when they need it the most. Now.
Btw you can support small businesses without spending a single penny in multiple ways!
2. You no longer need to open a million tabs and websites to find the right sustainable clothes
We get it. If you’re still trying to swap fast fashion for more ethical clothes, it’s not easy.
Cravings aside, you have to jump from one online store to another just to discover these brands and browse their small collections.
That used to be us years ago, and that’s exactly why we created Project Cece: because making more sustainable clothing choices shouldn’t be hard.
So, you now get to browse the collections of hundreds of fair trade brands in one place. Easy!
And when you create a free Project Cece account, you can also save your favourite items and get notified as soon as their price drops.
3. You can use our handy filters to narrow down your choices
As well as traditional categories and types of items, use our filters to find clothes and accessories that match:
- Your main requirements and preferences (like Price, Size, and Colour)
- What matters the most to you from an ethical perspective (like Labels, Certificates, and Materials)
That way, it’s a breeze to find garments that match both your style and ethos!
4. We’ll keep doing the hard and most time-consuming work for you
Have you tried checking if a brand is sustainable? From perusing their website to looking for third-party certifications and going through the actual materials, it can be tiring and confusing—even more so if you’re doing that with multiple open tabs.
So, don’t worry: we’re taking care of all that for you by conducting strict checks before approving any new brand on Project Cece.
You can always find a clear summary of what makes each of them more ethical than your local fast fashion store, too.
5. You’re supporting innovation
When shopping on Project Cece, your money goes directly to those ethical brands (we only take a tiny percentage at no extra cost for you).
By supporting those brands, you’re helping them make fashion even more sustainable (for example, by contributing to a bigger budget that they can use to invest in innovative fabrics).
Much better than funding companies that still rely on sweatshops and polluting supply chains, right?!
6. You’re helping dismantle the unfair monopoly of big names, one purchase at a time
From Bol.com in the Netherlands to Amazon… pretty much everywhere: some online platforms are making fast fashion even more accessible (as if that were even needed!).
This makes things ridiculously challenging for indie brands that are just trying to survive and reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry.
At Project Cece, we know we’re still too small to compete against those e-commerce giants, but each purchase is a step in the right direction.
(That's us. Hi!)
7. You become part of something bigger
We really meant it when we said we’re a small team with big goals! At Project Cece:
