The 15 Best Fall Wedding Ideas for 2024

There are many reasons one might choose Fall for their wedding season. The weather tends to be more temperate and the leaves are changing to breathtaking colors. This creates a perfect canvas for wedding photos. Some of the year’s best weather is usually also between September and October. Cool, sunny mornings make for the perfect backdrop for your wedding celebration.

Some Fall wedding ideas stay fairly constant, but there are hot new ones you may also wish to check out. Think dried florals to autumnal color palettes, soft, textured fabrics to bridesmaid dresses in rose gold that shimmer softly in the Fall sunshine. In this article, we’ll cover it all. You can mix and match these ideas or use them as inspiration for your own unique Fall 2024 wedding.

1. Make it rustic

Let’s start with an older idea: This is one that brides and grooms both love to revisit time and time again. It’s of course a rustic barn wedding venue. Rustic venues really shine during Fall and look great decorated with string lights and hay bale seating. You might even offer some s’mores for guests to enjoy over a fire.

2. Choose an autumnal color palette

Fall is full of color: from burnt oranges to soft golds, reds, and more. We like some of Chicsew’s best seasonal shades, such as rose gold, burnt orange, rust, burgundy (also great for a Christmas wedding), terracotta, marigold, and tangerine. You can mix and match colors from the same family, too.

3. Pumpkin centerpieces

Speaking of an orange-hued color scheme, pumpkins make for easy centerpieces. They can be hollowed out and filled with flowers or painted to match your wedding colors. Drape them in more fairy lights for added romance. You may also wish to paint individual slightly larger pumpkins with the table numbers.

4. Play with fabrics

Fall is usually still warm enough to get away with a lot of different bridesmaid dress choices. Depending on where you’re staying, you can have light chiffons but you may also get cozy. Velvet, jersey, and even satin are all lovely choices for a Fall wedding this year, and add lots of texture.

5. Incorporate plaid accents

On the note of fabrics, plaid-patterned fabrics make for great accents in an autumnal scheme. You can incorporate plaid into accessories as well as decor. Use this versatile fabric for table runners, blankets or throws for guests. You can even use it for stationery. Plaid adds a touch of coziness that’s perfect for Fall.

6. Offer hot beverages

Most guests love a beverage bar, especially if you can manage to give them a free one. A hot beverage bar is an excellent 2024 twist on a classic. Offer drinks such as hot apple cider, spiced lattes, and hot chocolate. Add toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, or cinnamon sticks.

7. Add some layers

Fall weather usually offers a good balance of cool and warmer temperatures. So you can play with added layers for your bridal party. Pashmina shawls and wraps come in a range of beautiful autumnal hues and lend a touch of luxury to any wedding outfit. They also double up as a great gift for your bridesmaids. Don’t like pashmina? Sparkling metallic wraps in hues of gold, rose gold, silver, or champagne are great too.

8. Make your own leaf confetti

This is a fun activity if you have younger kids in your bridal party who would like to get involved in some pre-wedding crafting. Use fully dried leaves and a simple hole punch to make eco-friendly confetti. You can also collect some smaller colorful leaves into the mix. Just make sure you dry them beforehand.

9. Use foliage and dried flowers

Fall foliage and dried flowers don’t just work well for confetti, they’re also great for decorating your tables. Dried flowers have the added benefit of keeping for a long, long time. If you are using them in your bouquets, you’ll be able to have them as keepsakes afterwards. Another added bonus of using dried flowers is that they’re often softer, more muted looking. This is perfect for a soft autumnal wedding palette.

10. Keep it sleek

If you haven’t decided on your own wedding outfit yet, a sleek dress is particularly chic and appropriate for a Fall wedding. We like dresses that are simple from top to bottom, with an embellished trail. You might also wish to add sparkling accessories that really catch that autumnal sunlight. Think earrings, a glittering belt, or a simple necklace.

11. Give your guests somewhere to lounge

Add a cozy lounge area with some soft pillows and blankets (remember those tartan throws?) This is a particularly hot idea for a Fall wedding in 2024, and one guests will love. You might wish to add a firepit in the middle for toasting marshmallows or keeping warm in the evening.

12. Candles, candles, more candles

Whether you’re using real or (high quality!) artificial candles, candlelight is sure to set a beautiful ambiance. You’ll get the best light for your Fall wedding’s evening reception. They work perfectly with those autumnal orange and rose gold hues. Candles also make shimmery fabrics glimmer in the evening light.

13. Have a sparkling send-off

Fireworks can be expensive and not all venues really love them. Instead, opt for sparklers for each of your guests. They can send you off onto your twinkling journey together as a married couple. Sparklers add a great light to evening photography and can even be used as fun wedding favors.

14. Have fun with favors

Thoughtful details make for the best wedding favors. We like things like the above sparklers or some pre-packed s’more ingredients. For a cooler day, offer hot chocolate mix in cute little jars or ‘test tubes.’ Guests will also enjoy seasonal favors such as toffee apples, mulling spices, or little glasses of maple syrup.

15. The details are in the invitations

To tie together your perfect 2024 Fall wedding, opt for some perfect invitations. Gorgeous laser-cut invitations in a range of autumnal colors are on trend. You could get these to match your overall wedding color scheme or add a touch of glamor with gold or rose-gold accents.
