Kingdom of Wow! is an ethical brand that combines everyday luxury with sustainability to create timeless footwear. Founded in 2015 by Godie van Paal in Siem Reap in Cambodia with a goal to produce responsibly and create local employment.
Fair trade: Kingdom of Wow! workshop provides a safe and healthy workplace for their team, a light and airy space where products are created to the sound of friendly chatter. A nourishing place where local women earn fair wages to support themselves and their families. Ensuring healthy work-life balance the teamwork 5 days a week (6 days being the Cambodian standard) to allow working mums to manage motherhood and other family responsibilities. Free childcare is also available for young children.
Environmentally friendly: Their espadrilles are cotton made with jute soles and natural rubber outers. Their slippers are a blend of wool and acrylic yarn with a suede sole finish. Kingdom of Wow! is phasing out acrylics for bamboo viscose making their slippers 100% biodegradable. They offset business CO2 emissions with a tree-planting project in Cambodia.
Vegan: Kingdom of Wow! espadrilles are 100% vegan. Their slippers are wool made from Icelandic Sheep that are treated well and mulesing-free.
Good cause: Kingdom of Wow! values their team. They provide insurance and nutritious free lunches, as well as scholarships for further education and interest-free loans to buy motorbikes. They also support various local NGO projects.
