The Dutch denim brand Kuyichi started with a great desire to make the fashion industry more sustainable. After seeing the terrible conditions in Peru under which their cotton was grown, the founders of Kuyichi decided to use only organic cotton without dangerous pesticides and chemicals to give the cotton farmers a better life. Kuyichi is the name of the Peruvian god of the rainbow, who brings colour and positivity. This clearly shows the philosophy that is deeply rooted in the brand to make a positive change in the fashion industry. Kuyichi is always looking for new techniques that make their jeans even more durable.
Fair Trade: Since 2001, Kuyichi has always done its best to improve conditions in the clothing industry. This is why they carefully choose their suppliers and every step, from seed to garment, is done under fair working conditions. Their tops are produced in Portugal and Turkey in 2 factories which are both GOTS certified and audited by Amfori BSCI. Their jeans are produced in Turkey and Pakistan. The Turkey factory is also GOTS certified and audited by Amfori BSCI and the Pakistan factory is GOTS, GRS, OEKO-TEX and SA8000 certified.
Environmentally Friendly: All Kuyichi cotton is GOTS certified, they use recycled cotton, recycled polyester, denim, and TENCEL Lyocell viscose. The recycled fabrics come from Turkey from a GRS certified factory. Their denim also comes from Turkey from a BSCI audited, GOTS, GRS and OEKO-TEX 100 certified factory. The fabrics that they use for their tops come from Portugal and Turkey from a GOTS, OEKO-TEX and GRS certified factory.
