Elvis & Kresse are thrilled to feature our leather system on Katie Walker’s Beam Bench - this wooden bench is a fantastic way to combine Katie’s incredible craftsmanship and design with our revolutionary modular leather system.
Our Wooden Bench is an award winning bench inspired by traditional cross-legged tables, blending Japanese style self-locking joints with curved legs. Originally conceived for gallery seating, the Wooden Bench has been reimagined for the home, it is popular in hallways and at the foot of the bed. The lightness of its curves and the playfulness of the jointing are now further highlighted by the modular, rescued leather upholstery added by Elvis & Kresse. The leather cover is held in place by removable stainless steel tubes making it easy to change and repair if required.
The Wooden Bench is available in ash (blonde) or walnut (brown) wood finishes. The covers are available in black or caramel rescued leather. Every Wooden Bench is handmade to order in the UK and can take up to 12 weeks to craft.
Our Wooden Bench was awarded The Furniture Makers’ Company, Bespoke Guild Mark no. 250. Each wooden Bench is handcrafted to order from the UK, using only the finest quality materials sourced with care.
“I’ve been looking for the right cover for the Beam Bench for years and have tried all sorts of fabrics and leather solutions, often specified by our clients. The rescued modular leather has exceeded our environmental goals whilst adding to the bench’s beauty - Elvis & Kresse have helped produce something that finally matches my aspirations for this design.” - Katie Walker, Katie Walker Furniture
“We are so excited to feature our leather system on Katie Walker’s Beam Bench – it is a fantastic way to combine Katie’s incredible craftsmanship and design with Elvis & Kresse’s rescued leather.” - Kresse Wesling MBE, Elvis & Kresse
Elvis & Kresse’s modular leather system was designed to deal with the production waste from luxury leather goods. At least 800,000 tonnes of leather waste is produce globally and the modular leather system uses three shapes to lock together leather fragments into components that can be woven together into a whole new kind of hide, unrestricted by size or shape.
50% of the profits from this system are donated to Barefoot College in the form of scholarships to train women as solar engineers, simultaneously helping to empower women and generate renewable power.

Since 2005, Elvis & Kresse have been saving raw materials, transforming them into luxury lifestyle accessories, and giving away half of their profits to charity. For example, Elvis & Kresse uses the leather scraps from Burberry in the United Kingdom, material that would otherwise be discarded.
Ethically produced: Elvis & Kresse bags are ethically made in England. They pay their employees above a real living wage and are an accredited Living Wage Employer. The label has its own production location and this is a certified social enterprise as well as a founding UK B Corporation.
Eco-friendly: Elvis & Kresse makes bags from niche repurposed material. They collect 15 different waste streams and reuse them. From fire hose to leather waste to tea sacks. The full list can be found on their website! The label also purifies their own water and is building a fully circular water purification system so that no water leaves the site. In a few years they hope to be completely self-sufficient with their own water. All packaging is made by hand in their workshop in Kent. Also made from reused materials, such as old printing blankets and parachute silk.
